Patrick Z. Garner

M.S. Clinical Mental Health Counselor NCC, APC

Welcome to the journey of mental health and wellness. I'm Patrick Garner, an Associate Professional Counselor with nearly a decade of experience in the mental health field. My passion lies in social justice, family systems, couples, and I'm dedicated to providing the upmost quality in every therapeutic interaction.

In 2018, I graduated from Clayton State University with a B.S in Psychology, earning a place on the Dean's List. My educational journey continued, and in May 2023, I proudly received my M.S in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Georgia State University. Currently, I serve as a Forensic Therapist with populations in correction settings, where my commitment to social justice intersects with my dedication to mental health.

My professional journey has been diverse and enriching. Since 2017, I've been a valuable member of the Emory Healthcare team at Emory Decatur Hospital, working on the Inpatient Psychiatric Unit. During this time, I've honed my skills and gained insights that contribute to my holistic approach to therapy.

My internship experience as an Assessment Counselor allowed me to collaborate with a diverse multi-disciplinary treatment team, including Psychiatrists, Social Workers, and Therapists. This experience shaped my understanding of the importance of a team-based approach in providing comprehensive mental health care.

In addition to my work in adult psychiatry, I've had the privilege of working with children, delivering ABA therapy at Pathway's Autism Center as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT). Before that, I served as a Forensic Behavioral Associate at Georgia Regional Hospital, further broadening my experience and understanding of mental health in different contexts.

My therapeutic approach is rooted in Person-Centered, Existential, CBT, and Solution-Focused Therapy. Recognizing the uniqueness of each individual, I tailor my methods to meet your specific needs. I believe that you are the expert in your mental health journey, and my role is to provide a warm, empathetic space for listening and support.

I take pride in the privilege of working alongside you on your path to mental health and wellness. Together, we can navigate the complexities, foster growth, and build a foundation for a more fulfilling life. Let's embark on this journey together.
